From the moment I wake up early in the morning, I usually go to brush my teeth and take a quick bath first. Once I come back to my room, I turn my laptop on. I log into face book to check if there is any message or friend requests that need my confirmation. If I find any, I will confirm and read the messages and reply.
After that, I head to the kitchen to prepare myself breakfast such as scrambled eggs or sandwiches. If I have lectures to attend, I will leave the house 10 minutes before the lecture commences because my house is 5 minutes away from the uni.
When I complete my all my classes, I then go to the uni library and listen to online music videos or news. Most of the news I pay attention is on US politics, Australia, Asia and my country Southern Sudan. The following are the websites I usually visit. http://www.sudantribune.com/, http://www.foreignpolicy.com/issues/current, http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/index.html plus the Australian government website (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade).
Upon coming back from uni, I sometimes make myself lunch or just go to sleep and have a good rest. when I wake up, I will turn skype on and begin video chatting with my friends and family. After that, I will begin reading my lecture slides or weekly readings. And the last thing I do at the end of the day is take another shower and eat my dinner and then sleep. This repeats itself. Weekends I spend it working on my assignments.
To analyse this inventory, I can see that technology and the media are really having huge impact in my life and probably other people's lives as well. Listening to music online, news and communicating with family and friends using social media such as face book and skype dominate most of my life. This means that the media has and continue to change the way we live and interact in the greater society. And as such culture is changing is being affected quite significantly. This is why some scholars refer to technology as one factor that is eradicating the cultures of different societies. And what gets me worried is the ever changing changing nature of technology and media. How will it affect society? The question is yet to be answered as we await tremendous changes technology wise.
